Perfect Ovals

NEW!
After introducing the perfect circles, there are now perfect ovals as well. Ovals in 10 sizes, 10 per size. Works in the same way as the perfect circles (see the film below with Perfect Circles). Using these, you prepare your appliqué forms quickly and perfectly. Cut out oval fabric with a seam allowance. Baste with a small running stitch in the seam allowance, and pull the thread tight around the template. Apply some starch or sizing to the seam allowance and put the iron on top, until the fabric is dry. Let the fabric cool, remove the template, pull the thread to make a perfect circle that you can hand or machine appliqué. If you do not have starch, a little works well too. Use the ovals to make flowers (using a perfect circle as heart), grapes, and whatever you can think of.

Perfect Stems

NEW

The Perfect Stems help you to easily make stems for flowers for appliqué. De five  Perfect Stems are strips of heat resistant plastic, varying from  1/16 till 3/4 inch wide.

Cut the fabric on the bias for curved stems and straight of grain for straight stems. Cut a strip of fabric 5 times as wide as the finished size. Press the strip double, wrong sides together. Insert the Perfect Stem against the fold, and sew along the edge of the stem. Trim the seam allowance, roll the seam allowance to the flat side of the perfect stem. Moisten the seam with sizing, and use a dry hot iron to press the seam dry. Remove the perfect stem and appliqué the stem in place.

These Perfect Stems do not get too hot to handle, as opposed to metal varieties.

NEW!

Many appliqué patterns contain circles. With this set of heat resistant circles by Karen Kay Buckley you will make perfect circles that you can appliqué by hand or by machine. The set contains 15 different sizes of circles, ranging from  7/16 inch to 2 inch. The set contains 4 circles of each size, so 60 circles in total. Cut out a circle with a seam allowance.

In the YouTube film below you can see a demonstration of the perfect circles.
