The Apple Cores pattern is a great pattern for a scrap quilt that you can use a lot of different fabrics in. You can also make a charm quilt, with every fabric different.
The front of the pattern (right hand side in the picture) shows a 41,5 x 54 inch quilt made with the largest Apple Core template in the set. Some Apple Cores have appliquéd circles. The circle is included in the pattern, but in this quilt they were made with Karen Kay Buckley's Perfect Circles. You will find them in the department Tools and Notions. You can view an instruction video there. You will need a set of small circles for this pattern (€ 14,50).
The pattern contains a number of projects: two mini quilts (with the small Apple Core template), several bedsize quilts, inspired by an antique quilt (centre picture above), a bag and a narrow quilt with the Apple Cores in a diagonal set.
Sewing Apple Cores by machine is a bit more challenging that straight pieces. You need to sew from dot-to-dot, and curved seams. They go together very well, especially the large Apple Core templates. But you can also cut the pieces with a rotary cutter, and sew them together by hand. A great project to take along.
